Discovered the engagement gift was bought at a discount place…?
There was an episode of a sitcom where the bride discovered that the engagement ring was a cheap designer “knock off” purchased at a discount place. She threw the ring away. Honestly, if any of you discovered the engagement ring was a designer “knock off” made to look like a more expensive ring but purchased at a discount, would you care? Would you throw it away? That always seemed absurd to me.

Not everyone can afford designer jewelry. If my husband buys me anything I am happy with what I get. If it is all about the money, maybe they should rethink WHY they are marrying.

The only way someone should get mad about that is if you are super rich and their fiance did it just so he could buy something for himself that was wrong, ie drugs, gambling, alcohol or to feed an addiction to porn. If they did it because he really couldnt afford a better one but felt bad and wanted to make you happy then who cares. material things shouldnt matter. i am getting married on saturday and we dont have a lot of money and that doesnt matter to me. We have what we need and when we get more money we can get a larger ring

I think if that someone absolutly loved the other person why does it matter that person that bought it at a knockoff store needs to wear the pants and say that i love you but i dont have the money to buy you an expensive ring and if they dont understand then you shouldnt be with them.

I would be glad the ring was a knock-off and I couldn’t even tell because it means I got a quality ring I love at a steal. I would be glad that the ring would leave less of a dent in our savings and we could then apply that money to other things.

No I wouldn’t in fact we bought cz rings because I wanted a ring with lots of “diamonds” and would have had to pay between $5000 – 10,000 to get what I wanted in diamonds. I like cz’s better anyway because I think they sparkle more especially when the metal is white gold or platinum.

Wouldn’t bother me at all if I wasn’t lied to. My ring is very inexpensive.
Now, if I was actually lied to about the ring’s origin, I’d be pissed, whether the lie was one of omission (knowingly letting me think something incorrect) or one of commission (outright telling me it came from somewhere it didn’t).
I don’t care about the prices of rings, but I have high standards for honesty in relationships.

Remember, an engagement ring is a token of love, and is not necessarily all about value.
